As a furniture maker with a strong emphasis on stewardship and responsible use of materials I have always struggled with the best use of the small scraps left over from projects. Surely there must be a way to make good use of this material (and that of other woodworkers) while making a positive impact in the world.
Inspired by the Empty Bowls project (potters, studios & art galleries donate time space and materials to create bowls that are then sold for donations for anti-hunger organizations) the idea for The Breadboard Project was born.
Woodworkers donating time & scrap materials to make Breadboards, available through individuals/businesses willing to distribute them with no mark up, 100% of the purchase price is directed to the Oregon Food Bank, Medical Teams International or other similar agency.
May we eat our bread with thankfulness & be reminded we can make a difference.
